GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – In 2013, MSU Gran Fondo started with the idea of bringing a West Michigan signature cycling event to the area that would showcase our beautiful state, welcome cycling enthusiasts of all experience levels and raise money for a great cause. We are thrilled to announce the MSU Gran Fondo has now been rebranded with a new name and a new mission but will remain the same epic ride next year.

The Grand Rapids Gran Fondo 2023 features all the same iconic elements of this beloved cycling event: the well-known finish line festival on the streets of downtown GR, professional timing, on course amenities and police support, celebrity rider and more. With the new name comes a new cause. Now more than ever, people are looking for more trails to ride on. 100% of the funds raised will go to West Michigan Trails for connecting trails and advancing our regional trails movement.

In addition to the new name, Tris4Health, West Michigan’s premier endurance sports event company, is spearheading this event in partnership with Robert Hughes, creator, and founder of the MSU Gran Fondo.

“For eight years, Gran Fondo was proud to host thousands of cyclists from across the nation to experience riding scenic West Michigan through the Grand Rapids city streets all the way to the breathtaking Lake Michigan beachfront. Through the history of the event, we also raised $1.2 million dollars toward the fight against skin cancer and became one of Michigan’s signature events. While we were disappointed to have to cancel this year’s event, we could not be more pleased to work with Tris4Health to reimagine this amazing event and plan to make Grand Rapids Gran Fondo one of the most unforgettable cycling events in 2023,” said Robert Hughes.

Grand Rapids Gran Fondo will be June 24, 2023.

“Tris4Health is honored and thrilled to be working with Bob Hughes to continue the legacy of this fantastic cycling event. We produce West Michigan’s favorite large-scale endurance events such as Grand Rapids Triathlon and Michigan Titanium and are excited to put our stamp on the Grand Rapids Gran Fondo and elevate the cycling experience for athletes, spectators and the community. We look forward to sharing more information throughout the upcoming year and hope you will join us on June 24, 2023!” said Jon Conkling, race director and co-owner of Tris4Health.

Grand Rapids Gran Fondo is the eighth addition to the family of events for Tris4Health. Tris4Health acquired Ugly Dog Gravel Triathlon, the original gravel triathlon, Waterloo G+G Gravel Road Race and Brainy Day Trail Run earlier this year, as well as created the Rode To Hell Gravel Race, which will debut this October 2022.

In addition, Tris4Health also has its flagship races, Grand Rapids Triathlon, Michigan Titanium and The Dirty Mitten Gravel Triathlon, all located in West Michigan.
