GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Continuing to add to its roster of top-tier endurance events, Tris4Health is thrilled to announce the acquisition of the Grand Haven Triathlon, the Bear Lake Triathlon and the Armed Services Marathon, Half Marathon and 5K. These events were previously owned and operated by accomplished long-time race director Ron Knoll and his company Superior Multisport, LLC.

“For nearly two decades, organizing and executing my events has truly been a labor of love. Innmany ways, these events have been my identity and in fact caring for them as though they were a part of my family,” said Knoll. “At my age, I felt ready to pass the torch to another event company. There is literally no one better that I’d like to see continue putting on these events. I have enormous respect for Jon Conkling and John Mosey of Tris4Health. They are individuals with great race directing experience, integrity and they always focus on ensuring a welcoming, fun, and safe participant experience. I’m excited to see Tris4Health take Grand Haven Triathlon, Bear Lake Triathlon and the Armed Services Marathon, Half Marathon and 5K to the next level.”

Grand Haven Triathlon, an early July event held in iconic Grand Haven, Mich., is celebrating its 20th anniversary next year. The Armed Services Marathon, Half Marathon and 5K, also held in Grand Haven, has qualifying courses at the marathon and half marathon distances for the Boston Marathon, New York City Marathon and the Abbott Marathon Majors Series. Bear Lake Triathlon, held in North Muskegon, is considered as the “season opener” in the West Michigan triathlon community.

Tris4Health has been putting on endurance events in the area since 2011, with its flagship events as the Grand Rapids Triathlon and Michigan Titanium. The addition of the three Superior Multisport, LLC events will bring Tris4Health’s roster to 14, with events spanning across Michigan.

“Ron is a true fixture of the triathlon and running landscape and has been for many years. He welcomed us to the race director community four years ago. Since that time, we have been collaborators, confidants and have built a true friendship. The trust he has put in John [Mosey] and I is one of our true privileges. We know how important these events are to the West Michigan endurance communities and we strive to honor all the work by Ron and his team over the years, while continuing these events forward,” said Jon Conkling, Tris4Health co-owner and event director.

Ron Knoll will stay on as race director for all three of these events for the 2024 season, working in tandem with Tris4Health.

“Ron has a wealth of knowledge and experience in race directing. We are thrilled that he has agreed to stay on as race director next year as we add these wonderful races to our family of events,” said John Mosey, Tris4Health co-owner and event director.
