GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Luton Park Time Trial mountain bike race will be under the umbrella of Tris4Health, Michigan’s premier endurance events company, in 2024. Previously owned by Matt Schmuker and family, the new ownership of Luton Park TT will signify Tris4Health’s first mountain bike race under their family of events, which also includes triathlon, running, road-cycling, and gravel bike racing.

Luton Park TT first began in 2019 and is held in Luton Park in Rockford, MI every September. It features an eight-mile loop of single-track routes, which entices all experience levels of mountain bikers from beginners to elite and expert cyclists.

The most recent event, held on September 17, capped at 250 participants from across the West Michigan area.

The event was created as a way to raise funds and awareness for Pitt Hopkins syndrome, a rare genetic disorder that causes developmental, intellectual and physical changes in children. As Schmuker’s seven-year-old daughter has this disorder, since the inaugural event, Luton Park TT has raised $30,000 for the Pitt Hopkins Research Foundation.

“My family and I have been very fortunate to be able to put on the Luton Park Time Trial for the last five years and to raise funds and awareness for the Pitt Hopkins Research Foundation,” said Matt Schmuker. “I am very pleased and excited to see the Luton Park Time Trial continue on into the future and thrive under the direction of Jon and John and the Tris4Health team!

Under the new direction of Tris4Health, Luton Park TT will continue with it’s core purpose of raising money and awareness for the Pitt Hopkins Research Foundation.

“This event is a welcoming, yet challenging race for mountain-bike enthusiasts, including those looking to get into the sport. We are excited to continue the legacy that Matt has done to establish this event in the mountain biking community and hope to grow it into a must-do race in West Michigan,” said John Mosey, co-owner of Tris4Health.

Luton Park Time Trial will be the fourth new event for Tris4Health in 2024. Earlier this year it was announced [link to article] that Tris4Health also acquired the Armed Services Marathon, Half Marathon & 5K, Bear Lake Triathlon and Grand Haven Triathlon, owned by Superior Multisport LLC.

More information regarding the website, registration and race details will be shared in the upcoming weeks.
